What Yahira Doesn’t Eat: The Comprehensive List
If you we've known each other long enough, you've probably learned that I have a restrictive diet. And my wonderful clients love to bring food treats when they see me. Unfortunately, because my diet is so restrictive, I can't eat most of the sweets you bring. So, I've made this post for anyone who would like to continue bringing edible gifts that are compatible with my diet.
Feel free to skip to the list of snacks and treats I do eat at the bottom. But if you'd like to be certain your gift is not on the exhaustive list of Foods Yahira Avoids, here it is...
1. Sugar
Anything with refined or even naturally occurring sugar is excluded from my diet. This includes:
- hard candy
- chocolate with added sugar
- fruit
- fruit juices
- dried fruits (raisins, dried apricots, dried figs)
- beverages with added sugar (energy drinks, sweet teas, kombucha)
- nuts with high sugar content (peanuts, cashews, pistachios, almonds, macadamia nuts, pecans)
- nut butters
Generally, if the nutrition facts show more than 1g of sugar per serving, it's not something I would typically eat.
2. Dairy
The only time I'll allow myself to have dairy is at a restaurant where it can be really difficult to avoid dairy as a lot of dishes and sauces are cooked with cream and butter. Otherwise, I usually avoid treats and snacks that include a dairy ingredient (milk/cream, butter).
3. Carbs and Starches
Anything made with grains/flour/rice/potatoes/corn, I usually avoid. Snacks with carbs and starches would include:
- cookies
- muffins
- pastries
- pretzels
- popcorn
- anything fried in batter
- potato chips
- tortilla/corn chips
4. Alcohol
5. Caffeine
Well, Yahira, what do you eat?!
My diet includes fish, meat, vegetables, sugar-free dark chocolate, and lots of eggs! :) Below you will find a list of snack foods that I enjoy...
- smoked salmon (wild caught only)
- organic olives
- Evolved Keto Cups
- coconut yogurt (sugar-free only)
- roasted chickpeas (sugar-free only)
- flaxseed crackers
