Some notes on libations...
In a previous post, I mentiond that back in 2020, I got the coronavirus. It took a while for me to realize that I could no longer tolerate alcohol (and lots of other food and drink as well). I couldn't even handle a sip. I'd go out with friends and men would offer drinks. Even then, I would only touch the wine with my lips so as to give the appearance of enjoying the drink. But even that was too much for me to handle. Toward the end of 2021, I had my last sip of wine. In fact, I'd been mostly abstaining from dark liquor and vodka for about eight years before that. This was the next logical step in my health journey.
I'm not going to stop drinking wine altogether. I do want to preserve my liver, however, I miss the social experience that can come with drinking wine. Once, on a dinner date at a steakhouse, on a whim, my date decided to add a wine tasting to our order. We barely touched our food and sat talking while the wine steward came back and forth with different selections. My date was actually a champ but I had to quit halfway through. But, we had a grand time that night! I'd like more nights like that.
So, this blog post is more of a PSA for current and future clients. While I abstain from alcohol, gifting me wine is sweet and appreciated, but I'd hate to see the wine go to waste. Additionally, I don't drink on dinner dates, but please do not be shy about partaking in front of me! I don't mind in the least and I'd prefer that you're comfortable and you enjoy yourself around me!
In the meantime, be wishful that I regain my tolerance for alcohol and the day that you and I can finally enjoy a glass together!
